CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Downtown Carbondale was buzzing with cosmic energy as it celebrated its annual Carbondalien Festival.
Paying tribute to Carbondale’s infamous 1974 UFO sighting at Slit Pond, this festival has grown into a beloved local tradition.
The two-day celebration consisted of a parade, live music, local vendors, and plenty of out-of-this-world fun.
Returning for round two, festival-goers Eric Wallis, Kathy Calachino, and Jaclyn Lauzzo revealed why this alien-themed extravaganza has them hooked.
“We all work together, and we’re all from Carbondale, born and raised here. And it’s like, it’s so fun just to see the community all come together and support all the local businesses and everything and bring a little boost to Carbondale. Don’t you think it’s fun? Absolutely,” said Wallis.
For those with an intergalactic appetite, Wallis shared what his favorite vendor at the festival is.
“Morrison’s porchetta sandwiches. Steak and cheese of the best great family,” said Wallis.
All proceeds from the festival benefit the Carbondalien Festival Fund, which is supported by the Scranton Area Community Foundation.
