What Happened in 1974?
Way back in 1974, residents of Carbondale reported seeing “a red, whirring ball” that flew over the mountain and eventually crashed into the silt pond at Russell Park.
Witness at the pond say there was a glow emanating from the bottom of the pond that last for hours.
A scuba diver was sent to the bottom of the pond where they recovered an old battery-powered lantern.
Though many townsfolk recall a flat-bed truck hauling something covered by a blue tarp away from the pond after all the excitement died down.
